The Financial district is also home to horrific event that took place on 11th of September of 2001, but is simply known to Americans as 9/11. Where the World Trade Center stood before is now known as ground zero, bound north and south by Vessey and Liberty streets and east and west by Church and West street. Currently the site is under construction, but if you visit there you can see the monument that will be dedicated to the all victims who perished during the attacks of 9/11.
